Overview
AX3 is a data logger. It features a state of the art MEMS 3-axis accelerometer and Flash based on-board memory. The device incorporates a real time quartz clock and temperature sensor.
Microprocessor
It is the Microprocessor’s job is to talk to the host computer over USB, negotiate battery charging and to precisely keep the time. In simple terms, the microprocessor is the brain of the sensor.
Accelerometer
This tiny component is about the size of a grain of rice. The accelerometer is used to detect movement, vibrations and orientation changes in all 3-axis at incredible precision. The accelerometer can be sampled at configurable rates and precision and simultaneously to other sensors.
NAND Memory
This memory chip is used to store all the data the microprocessor pulls from the sensors. Each sample is stored along with a precise time- stamp; this allows for accurate signal reconstruction. The data stored on the NAND Memory is in raw format has error checking and correction (ECC) built in.
